Mordheim Board - Docks Pt III

Another weekend has come and gone, and a little more progress has been made on this Mordheim board.  My focus has been on the dock area itself and that means building jetties.  Very straight forward - balsa for the posts and supports, and coffee stir sticks for the planking.  I wanted two separate jetties running perpendicular to the dock - one at a lower level so that it would be more suitable for smaller vessels to dock, and the other at the regular height for the bigger ship.  I think I'm going to have to add some little ladders to the smaller one regardless.

I've also smashed out a heap of paving on the top surface.  Deeply regretting cutting the dock in at a slight angle as it means cutting a lot of custom tiles to fit, but it is looking pretty good and almost finished!!

The remaining steps will be to add sand and grout between the pavers, and random rubble and skeletons to the board, and also to prep the boats.  I want to kit-bash a figurehead on to the front of the big ship and have a female Scibor cultist mini that will be perfect for the job.  I also have to figure out the mast situation.  I think I'll have them removable to make the board easier to store.  I also want to have a heap of gangplanks to link the various boats to the docks to make sure the water area is still very playable.  Finally, I am going to dig out some barrels to have around the docks to make it look more lived in.

Very happy with how it is looking so far - the perfect board for the Dwarf Treasure Hunters I've pulled together.  I'm also collecting minis for a Cthulhu/Stromfels inspired Cult of the Possessed warband which will also lean into the maritime theme.

Just the paving on the left and the 'build' part of the board is done.  I'm happy with how these jetties look.  I've gone a bit heavier with the knife than I usually would to make them look more irregular and weathered.

Here you can see the front of Brigandine where I want to add the figurehead. You can also get a sense of the height of the jetty. I am hoping I only need to do about a cm of resin...

Shot from above with a 40cm ruler for scale.  The total table is 3 feet x 3 feet.

A couple of shots of the stairs.  I found some little maltese crosses is the bitz-box and added as details.
