Dwarf Treasure Hunters - Work in Progress

Image
With low motivation to paint at the moment I've been focusing my time on building more warbands.  I am currently working on some dockside boards for my new Mordheim table complete with a boat, which got me thinking about maritime themed warbands I could pull together.  The first of these is a group of dwarf Treasure Hunters from Barak Varr.  This gave me an excuse to check out the Scibor pirate dwarf range! Noble and Engineer: For my heroes I've tried to steer away from the more 'piratey' sculpts - they are a noble and engineer after all.  It feels wrong to have dwarves who aren't equipped with axes, hammers or both, but cutlasses it is for this crew.  I've done some very simple planking bases for both using coffee stir sticks. Slayers: I have a ton of slayer models lying around including a few leftover from my slayer cult.  I really like the guy on the left - no mohawk when you are bald.  He looks really laid back whereas his compatriot on the right l...

Mordheim Terrain - Ruined Temple Pt I

Image
With the basic design and structure in place, I'd like to share one of my current Mordheim terrain projects, a ruined temple of Mymidia.  I've basically built a riser out of foam and clad it in cork 'flagstones'.  On this base I've assemble some of the Pegasus gothic building kits to get a temple structure.  Out back I've added a small graveyard using some plastic fencing and graves I had lying around. The lion reliefs on either side of the front steps are actually tank panels from Scibor miniatures.  Next steps for this structure is to add some playable surfaces higher in the structure (skaven walkways and platforms), a copper roof to the front section, and also add some details (ravens, rats, skeletons etc.) The imposing entry to the temple of Myrmidia.  The visitor is greeted by two lions rampant at the front steps. Front arial shot showing the flying buttresses and size of the piece.  This is almost a playable board in its own right. Back arial vi...

Mordheim Counters & Objectives - Work in Progress

Image
I've amassed quite a few odds and ends over the past couple of years and decided to sit down and create some tokens and objective markers for Mordheim.  The bulk of the resin items are from Kromlech including the crystals (wyrdstone!), books, chests and barrels.  The blue resin items are 3D printed crates and chests. The flagstone bases are 'Dungeon Stone' from Back to Base-ix.  The other bases are old GW square bases with chopped up coffee stir sticks. I'm hoping to add some house rules to incorporate more secondary objectives into the Mordheim scenarios.  A lot of the core scenarios are very similar, and often it would be good to have something additional at stake, particularly for weaker warbands.

Beastman Raiders - Work in Progress

Image
I've pulled together the beginnings of a Beastman Raider warband.  Looking forward to trying these out - particularly the Minotaur.  Heroes: Chieftan: This is the GW Beastlord model from Warhammer Underworlds.  I've added a skull trophy and added some stonework to the base to tie in with the rest of the warband.  Not sure whether I'll use this model as my leader yet... Bestigors: These guys are from the Cursed Herd by Mierce Miniatures.  I find the GW Bestigors are not really any different in size from the Gors, so I've opted to go with the larger Mierce models for my Bestigors (GW Bestigor pictured for scale). I've added some more skull trophies (a running theme for this warband) and based them on 40mm 'Ruins' resin bases by Back 2 Base-ix. Centigor: This is the only heavily converted mini in the warband. The starting point is a Centaur model from Scibor (part of their chaos dwarf range).  I've done a head swap with a GW one from the plastic Bestigor ki...

Dwarf Slayer Cult - Work in Progress

Image
My favourite fantasy race is, without doubt, dwarves.  I played Treasure Hunters in my last campaign but am keen to try something a little different this time around.  You cannot get more grimdark than Slayers, so I am going to give the Dwarf Slayer Cult a go... Giant Slayer & Rememberer: I'm not sure there are many better dwarf sculpts out there than Scibor?  I've been using them exclusively for my last few dwarf warbands and every time I go on their site there are more awesome minis available! I've added a new hilt to the Rememberer's sword and added a tome from the GW Flagellants kit.  I've also added a tiny brass dwarf rune from Greenstuff World to the front of the tome. All the models in this warband are mounted on the square 'Dungeon Stone' resin bases from Back 2 Base-ix. Doomseekers: The Whirling Blades are bit of a challenge to model.  I was originally going to use jewelry chain but wasn't going to be able to get the dynamic pose I wanted....

Returning to Mordheim

Welcome to Here be Damnation! - my Mordheim blog.  This is where I will document the selection, building and painting of new warbands, the build of new tables and terrain, and maybe some campaign correspondence once I am playing regular games. Basically, whatever creative endeavors I am pursuing.     Stay tuned! DoubleT
